Charles City, Iowa – For former Charles City resident and graduate Rita Hart, there’s a theme coming to mind when she decided to run for Iowa’s second congressional district seat.
Hart announced her bid Tuesday morning to continue her political career on a national level. She served Clinton and Scott counties for six years as a state legislator and then became the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor.
Hart told North Iowa News she wants to utilize her agriculture background during the campaign.
She grew up on a Farm outside of Charles City. After moving to Wheatland in southeast Iowa, her and her husband own and operate a farm.
She says she want to spur economic growth in entry level job markets.
She added health care is another top priority.
Hart’s expectation on the campaign is people want someone who will listen to them.
She has experience as a teacher in several small town schools and plans to utilize that, too.
