Charles City flushing hydrants over the next month

Draining hydrants is part of routine maintenance

Charles City, Iowa – Over the next month, the Charles City Water Department will be flushing the city’s 400 some hydrants.

Water Superintendent Cory Spieker says draining the hydrants is part of yearly routine maintenance.

Left over sediment affects water quality issues.

Spieker added flushes could affect your home’s water pressure.

He says to give city crews plenty of room when they’re opening the hydrants and to stay away from the gushing water as it’s being released at a high pressure.
