Charles City students putting on blood drive tomorrow

The event allows for student leadership growth and community involvement

Charles City, Iowa – Charles City students who have a passion for health care are putting on a blood drive at the high school Thursday.

Sophomore Lilly Usher is one of the students who’s organizing the event.

Usher is joined by four other upperclassmen and a teacher.

You have to 17 or older to donate unless you’re 16 have a permission slip from your guardians.  Donors must be at least 110 pounds and the Red Cross doesn’t recommend someone who’s physically active, but they will provide a private screening.

Usher says the blood drive gives back to the community.

She says working with her classmates have allowed them to mature not only in leadership but with their personalities.

Contact the high school or Red Cross with questions.
