14-year-old rescues elderly man who fell into a canal

A 14-year-old boy in Nampa, Idaho, was at the right place at the right time when he saw an elderly man who was stuck in an irrigation canal – and was able to help him get out of the water.

The 84-year-old man was feeding popcorn to passing ducks, when he slipped into the water. Luckily, teenager James Rine was walking nearby when he heard the man yelling. James removed his shoes, jumped over a fence and found the man in the canal, struggling for his life in the icy water.

Getting some help from others on the shore, James pulled the man out of the water and helped deliver him to emergency responders.

Once everything was back to normal, James learned that the man was a neighbor who lived nearby. So the man didn’t just get lucky being rescued from a scary situation, but also now enjoys having a new neighborhood friend.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
