Country Music News for May 6, 2019

All eyes are on Chase Rice this week and they’re looking at the top of the Mediabase singles chart. The singer-songwriter is in the number-one spot with his newest release, “Eyes on You,” the second single from his 2017 album, Lambs & Lions.

Coming in at number-two is Eli Young Band with their powerful “Love Ain’t.” Kane Brown’s groove-driven “Good As You” follows them.

Old Dominion’s “Make It Sweet” drops from number-one last week to number-four. But they have a new single, “Some People Do,” on the way, so don’t feel bad for them.

Finishing out the Top 5 is Morgan Wallen’s latest hit, “Whiskey Glasses,” which stepped up from number-six.

Miranda Lambert didn’t set out to put together an all-girl show for her Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars tour — but she couldn’t be happier.

She tells Pollstar, “I’m inspired by all these girls, especially the young girls; they keep my fire going. You see it in their eyes, and it just gets me going. Everybody has their own swagger and their own style, so this is going to be a night of some really badass music.”

Maren Morris and Elle King will alternate as the middle acts, with Caylee Hammack, Tenille Townes and Ashley McBride rotating as openers. Pistol Annies will play all the shows.

The tour starts on September 13th in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban and Kane Brown all have slots on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series in New York City’s Central Park.

Lady A will play on July 26th, Keith on August 9th and Kane on August 30th.

Other acts booked for the broadcast series include Adam Lambert, Blink 182, Pitbull and BTS.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
