Sheriff’s office adding cameras to new patrol cars

Hemann says technology aiding law enforcement duties

New Hampton, Iowa – The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s office is adding mobile cameras to two new patrol cars the department is purchasing.

Sheriff Marty Hemann presented to the board of supervisors Monday and said technology helps catch criminals by improving evidence.

The cameras will cost $8,110.00 after a $1,000 rebate for a trade in on two older cameras.  The technology is equipped with video and audio.  It allows for the camera to view the back of the squad car and in front.

Hemann says video in his job has evolved over time.

The new squad cars are scheduled to arrive in late June or early July.
