Information shows county populations in Northeast Iowa are declining

Charles City, Iowa – New 2018 information released from the State Data center shows the population in many of the counties in Northeast Iowa are declining.
Fayette County dropped 6 percent.
Winnieshiek saw a 5 percent drop.
Chickasaw County declined by 3.8 percent.
Floyd County fell 3 percent.
Butler County declined 2.2 percent
Mitchell County declined 2 percent.
However, Bremer County’s population grew 3 percent.
Population numbers are calculated on changes from 2010 until July 1, 2018.
Sixty-nine of Iowa’s 99 counties have lost population in the last eight years.
