Charles City, Iowa – March is known for many things like spring, warmer weather and St. Patrick’s Day, but this month is also MS awareness month.

One Northeast Iowan is taking on the task of spreading awareness about the auto-immune disease.

Katlyn Mayo of Charles City is a massage therapist and has started a Facebook fundraising campaign called ‘Hands That Heal.”

Pairing her career with a drive to make lives better, she says her hands are an important part to making people who have the disease feel better.

Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
