Man arrested after high speed chase, one officer injured

Charles City, Iowa – A Minnesota man has been arrested after a high speed chase through Floyd County Thursday morning leaving one police officer injured.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s office says the pursuit began on Highway 14 and entered city limits just before 3 a.m..

The chase continued for several minutes inside of Charles City.  The suspect collided with a Charles City Police officer.

Police Chief Hugh Anderson tells North Iowa News the officer’s injuries came after the collision near North Jackson and Lane Streets


After the suspect’s vehicle got hung up in the snow, Floyd County Deputies apprehended 32-year-old Bryant Johnston of North Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Charles City Police, Mitchell County and Chickasaw County Sheriff’s departments assisted Floyd County.


The officer, whose name has not been released, sustained injuries and was released from the Floyd County Medical Center.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department charged Johnston with multiple offenses stemming from the pursuit according to their Facebook post.
