District forced to extend school year due to weather

Charles City, Iowa – Mother Nature is wreaking havoc on education calendars.

Less than two weeks after  the Charles City School board moved to rework the school calendar to adjust to snow days, the district is being forced to extend the school year. Superintendent Mike Fisher.

The school originally held students until Wednesday, May 29th and it had stayed that way after Fisher had asked to change in-service days to early dismissals.

Even that adjustment wasn’t enough to satisfy Mother Nature.

As of Monday morning, the district has accumulated eight snow days and four late starts.
