Wind causes late-night Charles City power outage

Charles City, Iowa – Nearly 1,000 Charles City residents lost power late Tuesday night.

MidAmerican Energy confirmed wind caused an insulator to break, leaving a loose wire.

Shortly after 8,  residents told KCHA News they saw a big flash near 2nd street and Iowa.

Homes and businesses from the courthouse south to the Floyd County Medical Center to Maple Heights were left in darkness.

MidAmerican Energy restored power around 9.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
