Carl Crotty, 84, Charles City

Carl Crotty, 84, of Charles City, passed away January 1, 2019 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Carl’s wishes were to be cremated and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Carl LeRoy Crotty, the son of George and Viola (Mittelstead) Crotty, was born on May 11, 1934 in Aredale, Iowa. He graduated from Mason City High School. Carl was united in marriage to Catherine Servidio until her passing in 1981. To this union two sons were born, Christopher and Victor. Carl later married Mary “Pat” Putz in 1987.

Carl served in the United States Army for five years before being Honorably Discharged. Carl worked for Clear Lake Bakery for 33 years. He loved to bowl and was on two different bowling leagues. Carl and Pat enjoyed their time traveling down to Florida to visit family.

Living family members include wife, Pat; stepson, Lenny Servidio; stepdaughter, Kimberly Propes; stepson, David Putz; and grandsons, Danny Servido and Dylon Crotty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine; two sons, Christopher and Victor; and siblings, Robert, Kenneth, and Dorothy Wiltson.

Hauser Funeral Home, (641) 228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of local arrangements.  Online condolences may be left for the family


Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
