Fifth Grade Students Double Fundraising Efforts For Animals In Need

Jackson Junction, Iowa – Fifth graders at Turkey Valley Community Schools have taken their love of animals to a whole new level.

The fifth grade class organized a penny drive to raise money for SNAP, a pet rescue non profit in New Hampton.

Addison Steinlage says her classmates had a simple inspiration.

Students in grades first through sixth grade helped raise 420 dollars, doubling the original goal.

The students competed against one another with some big stakes on the line.

Big hearts and big pockets are helping make a difference for pets in need in Chickasaw County.

Maci Weber says the money won’t be wasted.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
