AUDIO: Andrew’s Buzzer Beating Layup Lifts Comets Over Rival New Hampton

High drama last night at comet Gym between Charles City and New Hampton.  With a 71-all tie, the Comets came out victorious thanks to Bradley Andrews:

Bradley Andrew’s buzzer-beating lay in lifted Charles City to 3-3 on the year and sank New Hampton to 4-5.  The Chickasaws led by 11 late in the second quarter before the Comets ended the half on a 10-0 ending on this basket from Marcus Cranshaw.


Jackson Molstead finished with a game-high 35 points and Tristan Sweizter collected 30. Klapperich says this is a much needed win going into Friday’s matchup with Waver-Shell Rock.


Girl’s Basketball Scores

The New Hampton girls fell to the reining 3A state champions last night 47-33.  The Chickasaws had the game tied after the first quarter, but a 15-4 frame for Crewstood proved to be the difference.  Paige Wisner led with nine points.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg cougars notched their fourth straight win dowing Union 41-30 last night.  Cassidy Pagel led with 12 and Ivy Hirsch finished with 9. The Cougars are 6-3.

The Turkey Valley Trojans smashed Postville 65-8.  Braenna Busta led with 13. The Trojans are 4-5.

Boys Basketball Scores

The Sumner-Fredricksburg Cougars smashed Union 73-32 last night.  The Cougars have picked up four straight wins and are 5-3 on the year.

Turkey Valley is 6-2 after a 52-41 win over Postville.

It’s five straight wins for North Fayette Valley.  The Tiger-Hawks picked up a 67-43 win over Kee High last night.  16 points for Luke Butikofer to pace North Fayette Valley.
