BREAKING: Meals On Wheels Finds New Home With Apple Valley Assisted Living Center

Charles City, Iowa – The Floyd County Medical Center announced this afternoon the city’s meals on wheels program has found a new home.

Hospital administrator Rod Nordeng says the new partnership is with Apple Valley Assisted Living.

Apple Valley will take over the program on January 7th of 2019.

The change comes after the hospital can no longer afford to support the program.  The hospital’s Medicare reimbursement is determined based on its total expenses.   According to a press release, meals on wheels cost the hospital 135 thousand dollars in 2017.  Meals on Wheels’ cost are removed from FCMC’s total costs into a non-reimbursement cost center.

If you still need meal service, you can contact the dietary department at the hospital until further notice.
