Iowa State Rolls Texas Southern, Campbell Hasn’t Named Montgomery’s Starter

Iowa State 85, Texas Southern 73

Marial Shayok and Talen Horton-Tucker both scored 26 points as Iowa State beat Texas Southern 85-73 to improve to 3-0 on the season. The 26 points for Shayok were a career high.

Shayok sat out last season after transferring from Virginia.

Iowa State coach Steve Prohm says it was a good win but there are still plenty of areas to work on.

Prohm says the Cyclones must do a better job of taking care of the ball.

Iowa State coach Matt Campbell is not ready to name a starting running back for this week’s game at 13th ranked Texas. David Montgomery will not play in the opening half after being ejected for fighting in Saturday’s win over Baylor.

Campbell says it won’t change how the Cyclones play.

Campbell says Iowa State did not appeal Montgomery’s penalty to the Big 12.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
