Chickasaws and Green Devils Eye State Tournament Birth, Comet’ Season Ends

#11 New Hampton 3, Waukon 1

The eleventh-ranked New Hampton Chickasaws had to fight off the Waukon Indians last night enroute to a three sets-to-one victory.  New Hampton’s lone set loss – a 25-21 second set defeat – led two a set three and four blowout. 25-12 and 25-13. Kiersten Tenge led the Chickasaws with 12 kills and Rachel Rinken added 10.  New Hampton collected 12 aces in the match. With the win, New Hampton will play in Cedar Rapids Monday night against Comanche for a spot in the regional final with a spot to state on the line.

#8 West Delaware 3, Charles City 0

The Charles City Comet Volleyball team’s season has come to it’s close.  In the Class 4A, Region 4 semi final, the eighth-rated West Delaware Hawks dispatched the Comets in straight sets, 25-12, 25-23, and 25-8.  Jodie Sidlinger led the Comets with eight kills and Dani Stock bagged four. The Comets finish the season at 14-28.

#6 Osage 3, Forrest City 0

The sixth-rated Osage Green Devils will have a chance to play for a spot in the state tournament Monday.  Osage defeated Forest City in straight sets to advance to their regional final on Monday. Sydney Midlang led the Green Devil attack with 14 kills.  Dani Johnson and Kaebre Sullivan each had 20. Osage had 46 kills and hit 360. Osage will face Humbolt in the 3A region 3 final on Monday night.
