Motorcade To Honor Fallen Law Enforcement Officer On Sunday

Charles City, Iowa – Honoring one of law enforcement’s fallen.

This Sunday, area public safety, which includes law enforcement, fire and rescue agencies will be joining a motorcade to honor fallen law enforcement officer Ben Zirbel. Brandon Frankie, a captain with the Charles City Police Department:

Zirbel, a Charles City native, died August 21st in Florida as his police motorcycle struck a trailer being pulled by a truck turning in front of him.  Zirbel’s father Jim, is a former police chief at Charles City. As a show of respect for the Zirbel family, the motorcade begins from K-Mart and will end at the Elks Lodge where the memorial service will take place.  Frankie says this is a way to honor one of their fallen brothers.

The celebration of life follows at the Elks Lodge on Sunday and it’s casual dress with time to share memories and stories.  The motorcade begins at 12:45.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
