951 The Bull Sports Report (7/27)

We begin today’s report with a look at the Iowa State Baseball Tournament in Des Moines.  Top ranked Mason City Newman is headed back to the 1A championship game. The Knights scored four runs in the second inning and got a three-hitter from Caden Kratz for a 6-0 win over sixth rated Martensdale-St. Marys.

Kratz struck out 10 batters to move his season record to 9-0. The Knights will bid for their fourth state title in six years Saturday afternoon.

The Knights will take on an undefeated Lisbon team who defeated North Linn-Troy Mills 4-2 yesterday.  The Class 1A title game will be played at 11am tomorrow at Principal Park in Des Moines.  The Class 2A Championship game is set as well.  It will be Iowa City Regina vs. Centerville tomorrow at 1:30.  The Class 3A and 4A Semi-Finals will be played today.  In Class 3A, Waverly-Shell Rock will be up against Harlan at 11am and Davenport Assumption will take on Sioux City Bishop Heelan.  In the Class 4A Semi-Finals, Urbandale will be up against Epworth-Western Dubuque and West Des Moines Valley will take on Cedar Rapids Washington.
