The Northeast Iowa Conference recently released its All-Conference softball teams and several Chickasaws earned postseason honors. Lauren Frerichs was named to the First Team as an infielder. Frerichs led the Chickasaws with a .415 batting average and had two home runs, fourteen doubles and 32 runs batted in this season. Savannah Anderson, Kayla Crooks and Paige Wisner earned Second Team Honors. Anderson was selected as a pitcher as she went 13-7 this season with an Earned Run Average of 2.24. She had 88 strikeouts against 20 walks and opponents hit just .187 against her. Crooks was named as an infielder as she had a team-high fifteen doubles to go along with a .310 batting average. Wisner, an outfielder, hit .336 with 21 RBI and she struck out just seven times on the season. Kerigan Tenge and Bailey Knowlton were selected as Honorable Mentions as Tenge hit .314 at the plate and went 9-5 inside the pitching circle. Knowlton hit .235 this season with 17 RBI and played excellent defense all season long. Congratulations to these New Hampton Chickasaws for your post-season recognition.
The John Deere Classic Golf Tournament wrapped-up over the weekend near the Quad Cities abd Michael Kim took home the winner’s share, but the biggest winners are local charities. George McNeilly reports.
