Floyd County Property Appraisals Out In Full Force

Charles City, Iowa – The Floyd County Assessor’s office is conducting reappraisals of all classes of property in Floyd County.  Floyd County Assessor Gary VanderWerf says these reappraisals are required by the Iowa Department of Revenue.  The last Floyd County appraisal happened in 2005. Vanguard Appraisals started on Monday going to door-to-door appraising property.

While some residents don’t want to let the appraisers in, VanderWef’s says the homeowner’s property will be appraised regardless.

Appraisers only take 5-10 minutes.  VanderWerf says the cleanliness of the home does not factor into the appraisal.  He said the appraisal will last for 18 months and the values will be useful as of January 2020 and used on taxes starting in the fall of 2021. He said if residents are unhappy with the value to reach out because he said he’d be happy to discuss it. You can call the Floyd County Assessor’s Office at (641) 257-6152 or email
