The New Hampton Chickasaw girls golf team was in Garner yesterday for their Class 2A Regional Final golf meet.  The Chickasaw girls finished on top of the team standings with 339 team strokes and advanced to the State Meet.  They finished 18 strokes better than second place Okoboji.  Allison Nuss was the meet medalist as she fired a 75 for the Chickasaws, Morgan Nuss was third overall with a 77 and Emma Ewert had an 83 which placed her seventh overall.  The Chickasaw girls golf team will take part in the Class 2A State Golf Meet in Panora next week.  The Chickasaws will play at Lake Panorama National in the two day State Meet starting next Tuesday.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls golf team hosted a Class 1A Regional Final Golf Meet last night at the Nashua Town and Country Club.  The Husky girls finished with a team score of 405, which placed them fourth overall, but wasn’t quite good enough to qualify them for State.  They fell short of second place by just fifteen strokes.  Unfortunately, Nashua was not able to qualify any individuals for the State Meet either, so their season is now over.  Jaden Schwienfus of South Winneshiek was the meet medalist as she carded an 18-hole score of 80.  Schweinfus will participate in the Class 1A State Golf Meet at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown next week.

In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw baseball team opened up their 2018 season at home against South Winneshiek.  The Warriors jumped ahead 2-0 after the first inning.  The score remained that way until the Chickasaws scored their first run in the bottom of the fifth inning.  New Hampton would add another run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game.  Neither team would score in the seventh which forced extra innings.  After holding the Warriors scoreless in the top of the eighth, the Chickasaws were able to push across a run in the bottom half to get the walk-off win.  The New Hampton baseball team begins their season 1-0 and they will be in action again tomorrow night at Clear Lake.

The New Hampton Chickasaw softball team had their season opener postponed last night against Denver.  They will start their season on Thursday with a Northeast Iowa Conference double-header at Decorah.
