The 2018 Iowa High School girls and boys State Track meet begins today at the Blue Oval in Des Moines. There are several athletes from around our area competing. For the New Hampton girls, Olyvia Burke will run in the 3000 meter final today at 3:20, Rachel Rinken will participate in the long jump at 4:30 today, the Chickasaw girls 4×800 meter relay team will be in the final today at 5:00, the girls Distance Medley Relay Team will be in the Finals tomorrow at 2:40Marcy Uglum will be in the high jump tomorrow at 4:30, Claire Quirk will be in the 400 meter hurdle final tomorrow at 5:20, the girls 4×400 meter relay preliminaries will take place at 7:00 tomorrow and Maddie Usher will run the 800 meter final on Saturday at 10:40. On the boys side, Noah Fenske will get things started in the shot put at 4:30 today, Keagan John will run his 400 meter preliminary today at 7:20, Brayden Fisher will run the 400 meter finals tomorrow at 5:00, the Chickasaw boys will run the Distance Medley Finals tomorrow at 5:40 and then Keagan John will have his 800 meter final at 11:20 on Saturday.
Nashua-Plainfield’s girls and boys 4×800 relay teams will run today in the Class 1A Finals. The girls will run at 11:20 and the boys will compete at 12:10. The Huskies will have their girls Distance Medley Relay team will run in the Finals tomorrow at 9am, the Nashua boys will run in the Sprint Medley Finals on Saturday at 9:50 and Nashua’s Dayton Hanson will run in the boys 1600 meter final on Saturday at 2:15.
Turkey Valley’s lone female state qualifier was Kassidy Reicks and she will throw the discus tomorrow at 9am. On the boys side for the Trojans, their 4X800 meter relay team will run their final today at 12:10, Kyle Langreck will have his 110 meter hurdle preliminary at 9:40 tomorrow, Luke Anderson will throw the discus at 11:30 tomorrow, the Trojan Distance Medley team will run their final tomorrow at noon, the 4×400 meter relay preliminary will be tomorrow at 2:00, and Jordon Snyder will run his 1600 meter final on Saturday at 2:15.
