New Digital Charles City Tornado Exhibit To Be Unveiled On 50th Anniversary; Other Public Observances Set For Tuesday

Charles City, Iowa – Tuesday marks the 50th anniversary of “the big one”, the massive tornado of May 15th, 1968.

There will be an observance at the Floyd County Historical Society Tuesday beginning at 4pm.

That’s Adam Nielson, an intern at the museum who said the new digital exhibit will be unveiled following the observance.

The observance at the Floyd County Historical Society begins at 4pm, Tuesday, May 15th.

In addition to the new, updated exhibit, the Charles City Evangelical Free Church will hold a remembrance beginning at noon in Central Park.

The Charles City Press will also feature a 50th Anniversary commemorative section, which will be included in your Tuesday edition of the paper with more copies available for purchase at the Press office.
