The NFL Draft kicked off with the first round in Dallas last night and neither of the Iowa Hawkeyes hoping to be selected in the first round were chosen. Center James Daniels goes in to the second round as the best available player according to ESPN and corner back Josh Jackson is the best available defensive back. Both players should be chosen early in the second round which begins at 6pm.
The Iowa Hawkeyes will try to cool off the nation’s hottest team beginning Friday night when they open a three game series against Michigan in Iowa City. After stumbling out of the gate the Wolverines have won 20 straight games and are 11-0 in the Big Ten.
That’s Iowa coach Rick Heller. The Big Ten’s unbalanced schedule has a lot to do with where these teams stand. The Hawkeyes are 7-6 and when the weekend is over will have played the top five teams in the standings while the wolverines have already played the bottom three teams.
The Hawkeyes are 13-3 at home this season and hope to use that as an advantage this weekend.
Iowa will send Nick Allgeyer to the mound in the opener.
Northern Iowa wrestling coach Doug Schwab has signed a contract extension. Todd Kimm reports.
