Three killed, one injured in crash east of Charles City

Charles City, Iowa – Three people were killed, and one injured after a collision east of Charles City at 5:05pm Friday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 28-yer-old Jacob Allen Mahnesmith of Nashua was traveling westbound on 210th Street in a 2011 Dodge Ram when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a 2002 GMC Sierra, which was traveling northbound on Woodside Ave.

Mahnesmith and a passenger, 28-year-old Shane Allen Wiltse of Charles City, were killed in the crash. Another passenger, 29-year-old Thomas John Parcher of Marble Rock, was injured.

The Patrol says the driver of the GMC Sierra was also killed in the wreck, but their name hasn’t yet been released, pending notification of relatives.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Charles City Police, Charles City Fire, Nashua Police, AMR Ambulance and Mercy Air Med.

The accident remains under investigation.
