Mason City, Iowa – A Mason City man had two run ins with law enforcement after two robberies were committed at the end of last November.
29-year-old Zachary Russell was charged with second-degree burglary on Nov. 27. He had punched a person in the face and stole their bag that they were carrying. The second charge was handed out four days later after he held a knife to someone’s throat. He would proceed to steal his cell phone and money. This would lead to a first-degree robbery charge.
Russell had pled guilty to assault while participating in a felony for the November incident. The December charge was dropped, and he must now spend the next five years in prison along with paying $652 in restitution.
