Fireworks are Topic of Discussion at City Council Meeting

Charles City, IA – Fireworks were flying all over Iowa last summer. The state had approved of firework sales in Iowa and residents of the state were taking full advantage of it.

Charles City did allow outlets to sell these directed explosions last summer, but the use of them was not permitted in city limits. A representative from TNT Fireworks discussed with the City Council at their last meeting about using a city-owned parking lot to sell fireworks for this year.

Tents would be set up in Hy-Vee’s parking lot, which is owned by the city, next to the Garden Center. No TNT workers would be working at this facility, however, and a special-use permit would be required.

Concern was expressed by council members since no TNT workers would be working at the site. A local church would operate the transactions at this tent.
