The Turkey Valley Trojan boys basketball team was in Postville last night for an Upper Iowa Conference match-up.  The Trojan boys fell behind by five at halftime and couldn’t quite get out of that hole as they suffered their first conference loss of the season by a final score of 57-51.  The Turkey Valley boys are now 15-4 overall this season and their conference record falls to 13-1.  The Trojan boys and girls will both be in action on Friday night at home against Kee High.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls and boys basketball teams were at home last night for a North Iowa Cedar League double-header against Union-LaPorte City.  In the girls game, the Cougars were dominant in route to a 58-22 win.  Cassidy Pagel had 21 points to lead Sumner-Fred and Krayton Allen added 16.  The Cougar girls improve to 16-2 overall this season and bump their conference record up to 14-2.  In the boys game, Sumner-Fred continued their improved play late in the season, but came up just short of the win as they fell 49-47.  The Cougar boys fall to 3-15 overall this season and they are now 1-14 in the NICL.  The Sumner-Fredericksburg girls and boys basketball teams will play again tomorrow night at Aplington-Parkersburg.

The South Winneshiek Warrior girls and boys basketball teams were at home last night for their Upper Iowa Conference games against Clayton Ridge.  In the girls game, South Winneshiek turned up the defensive pressure and held Clayton Ridge to under 20 points in the game as they picked up a victory by a final score of 37-18.  The Warrior girls improve to 8-10 overall this season and they improve their conference record to 6-6.  In the boys game, South Winn dominated throughout the game in route to a 68-31 win.  The Warrior boys improve to 12-7 overall this season and their Upper Iowa Conference record now sits at 11-3.  The South Winn girls and boys will have their next games on Friday night at home against Starmont.
