951 The Bull Sports Report (12/8)

In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw girls basketball team hosted Independence in a non-conference contest.  The Chickasaw girls were dominant on both ends of the court and rolled to a 60-24 win.  Isabel Leichtman led the New Hampton girls with 21 points and Maddi Moorman and Kallie Olson each had six rebounds.  The Chickasaw girls have now won three straight and improve their overall record to 3-2.  They will be back in action tomorrow night at Turkey Valley.

The New Hampton Chickasaw wrestling team was in Oelwein last night where they had Northeast Iowa Conference matches against the Huskies and Waukon and also faced off against North Fayette Valley in non-conference action.  The Chickasaw grapplers were dominant in all three of their duals as they beat Waukon 68-5, they took down Oelwein 75-6 and beat North Fayette Valley 73-6.  The New Hampton wrestlers improve their overall dual meet record to 4-0 and they begin the NEIC season at 2-0.  They will be in action again tomorrow at a tournament hosted by South Winneshiek.

The Turkey Valley Trojan girls basketball team was in Monona last night for an Upper Iowa Conference game against MFL-Mar-Mac.  The Trojans fell behind early and MFL kept pouring it on as Turkey Valley lost big by a final score of 73-41.  The Turkey Valley girls fall to 4-2 overall this season and they are now 3-1 in the conference.  They will play again on Saturday at home against New Hampton.

The Turkey Valley Trojan boys basketball team will be in Upper Iowa Conference action tonight as they look to stay unbeaten.  The Trojans are 3-0 overall and in conference games and they will play host to a Postville team that is 2-2 and 2-1.  Tip-off for the Varsity contest will be at about 7:30.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls and boys basketball teams will play in North Iowa Cedar League action tonight against Denver.  The Cougar girls are 3-1 overall this season and they are 2-1 in the NICL while the Denver girls are 2-2 and 0-2.  The Sumner-Fred boys are looking for their first win tonight as they are 0-3 overall and they sit at 0-2 in the conference while the Cyclone boys are 1-2 and 0-2.  Tip-off for the girls game will be at about 6:15 and the boys game will follow.

The South Winneshiek Warrior girls and boys basketball teams will be on the road tonight for an Upper Iowa Conference double-header against Clayton Ridge.  The South Winn girls are 1-2 overall this season and they are 1-1 in league play, Clayton Ridge’s girls are 1-5 and 1-3.  The Warrior boys come in with an overall record of 2-2 and they are 2-1 in the UIC while the boys from Clayton Ridge are 1-3 both overall and in the conference.  The girls game will get started at about 6:15 and the boys game will tip-off at around 7:30.
