Charles City, IA – The way that garbage has been picked up for years will be changing in Charles City come spring. The city has decided to move away from the orange bag pickup and go to wheeled totes.
Every residency will be given a garbage tote along with a recycling tote. The biggest issue the city is going to have is making this transition. Steve Diers, Charles City’s city administrator, says why the change is happening.
Diers says that he has received some feedback and that the response has been positive. Elderly people say that this will help them since they won’t have to carry their trash anymore.
He says what sizes these containers will be available in.
Postcards will be sent out to figure what size totes each resident wants. For more information or to sign up, visit CityOfCharlesCity.org.
