The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union began their volleyball postseason tournament last night with Classes 1A and 2A having opening round matches. The Nashua-Plainfield Husky volleyball team hosted Postville in a Class 2A Region 6 opener. The Huskies were able to sweep their way into the Quarter-Finals as they won three games to none by scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-15. Nashua volleyball is now 12-19 overall this season and will play again on Monday night at South Winneshiek.
The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar volleyball team was at home last night for their opening round match-up against MFL-Mar-Mac in the Class 2A Region 6 Tournament. The Cougars were dominant as they won in straight sets 25-12, 25-17 and 25-19. Sumner-Fred did the majority of their damage from the service line as they went 59-65 as a team with 13 aces. The Cougar volleyball team improves to 14-18 overall this season and will play again on Monday night in the Regional Quarter-Finals at Wapsie Valley.
The Turkey Valley Trojan volleyball team saw their season come to a close last night as they fell to Kee High in straight sets in the Class 1A Region 5 First Round. Scores went 25-18, 25-14 and 25-23. The Trojan volleyball team concludes their season with an overall record of 8-26.
The New Hampton Chickasaw volleyball team will open-up their postseason tournament tonight with a Class 3A Region 5 Quarter-Final at home against Waukon. The Chickasaws finished their regular season with a record of 27-9 while Waukon comes in at 8-28. New Hampton was able to win all three meetings against the Indians this season as they beat them two games to none at the Cresco tournament on September 9th, three games to none on September 28th in New Hampton and defeated them at the Northeast Iowa Conference tournament last Saturday two games to none.
