New Hampton, IA – The Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton is about to undergo some major renovations. A few places in the building will see some changes, but the Emergency Department will be the first.
Jenny Monteith, Mercy’s public relations coordinator, says what changes will be happening in the first phase of this project.
The project got started today with the $6 million project. This will take 18 months to complete and the first estimate of cost was $12 million. The hospital managed to cut that in half.
Only a 1,500-square foot addition will be put onto the hospital. The rest will be renovations.
The current building was built in 1967. Several renovations will help make the hospital better including private rooms and showers and making it more secure. To stay up to date with the construction, like Mercy’s Facebook page.
