Trio of Car Accidents in Charles City on Friday

Charles City, IA – Three separate car accidents, that included five cars, took place in Charles City on Friday.

The first incident happened in the 900 block of South Grand Ave. 47-year-old Dale Milligan of Charles City was driving his Lodal Truck when he clipped the overhang on a building. No damage was done to the truck, but an estimated $1,000 in damage was done to the building. No one was injured and no citations were handed out.

The next accident occurred at the intersection of Brantingham St. and Kelly St. 47-year-old Mark Helmers of Charles City lost control of his small passenger bus and rear ended 58-year-old Rodney Morhardt of Clinton, Iowa. Morhardt was drving a semi when he was hit. Helmers was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.

The final accident Friday also involved two cars. This accident happened at Clark and Milwaukee Streets. 19-year-old Christian Uker of Rockford pulled away from a stop sign and struck another vehicle. The driver of the other car was 56-year-old Randall Kreger of Charles City. Uker was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign, and an estimated $4,000 in damage was reported.
