Sprucing Up Charles City

A landscape with a different Fields and diffrent trees

Charles City, IA – The Charles City Rotary Club is helping spruce up the city by planting trees around town at different locations.

This idea started with Rotary and then spring boarded to other organizations. Charles City High School, Charles City Parks Department, Otto’s Oasis and the state district forester are now all involved. This process is set to start on Oct. 17. Chris Garden, chairman of the club’s service project committee, says more.

Garden also says that Rotary will be in charge of watering the trees. These trees will have to be watered manually for a few seasons.

The plan is to plant more trees come spring time.

In total, 122 trees will have been planted by the end of next spring. Lions field, Wildwood Golf Course and the bike trail will all be adding trees. Garden wants to add signs to the trees down the road so people can identify what kind of tree they are.
