Drive to Help Muscular Dystrophy

Charles City, IA – If you drove through the corner of Brantingham Street and Gilbert Street Sunday, you probably saw Charles City fire fighters on each corner. They were doing this to raise money for a disease.

The money brought in from this annual fundraiser was for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The drive was called the “MDA Boot Drive.” The firefighters usually bring in around $1,700 for this cause. Donations are still being accepted, but they must be brought to the Charles City Fire Department.

At least four firefighters stood on these corners from 8 a.m. until noon. There was a fire that pulled some of the volunteers away for a little while, but some firefighters were at these corners for all four hours.
