In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull Friday night, the New Hampton Chickasaw football team hosted fifth ranked Waukon.  The Chickasaws were able to hang tough with the Indians, but in the end it was Waukon who walked away with the 28-20 win.  Defense and Special Teams kept New Hampton in it as Keegan Kane had an interception return for a touchdown and he also returned a kickoff 88 yards for a score.  The offensive touchdown for New Hampton came on a one yard run by Braydon Fisher.  The Chickasaws end their non-district schedule with a record of 1-1 and they will open up District play this Friday night at Forest City.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team struggled a bit on Friday night as they hosted seventh-ranked Hudson.  The Huskies were unable to light up the scoreboard as they were shut-out 32-0.  Nashua managed just 63 yards of total offense as Dayton Hanson had 27 passing yards and Mason Hyde led the team in rushing with 23 yards.  Hyde was responsible for the lone turnover forced by the Huskies as he was able to get an interception.  Nashua football falls to 1-1 on the season and they will begin District play this Friday night at Saint Ansgar.

The Turkey Valley Trojan football team was dominant in their 8-man game at home against West Central Maynard as they won in blow out fashion 62-12.  Ethan Leibold completed all three of his pass attempts for 73 yards and he had two touchdown passes to Cael Reicks.  Will Einwalter scored on all three of his rushing attempts and finished with 54 yards on the ground and Breaden Baumler and Dylan Elsbernd each had a rushing score.  Einwalter also scored on an 8-yard interception return.  The Trojans improve to 2-0 on the season and they will have their first District game on Friday night at North Iowa Buffalo Center.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar football team was at home on Friday night for a non-district game against East Buchanan.  The Cougar defense kept them in it, but the offense managed just one touchdown in a 21-6 loss.  The lone Sumner-Fred touchdown came on a 45-yard run by Spencer Schmitz.  Schmitz also came up with the lone turnover on the defense as he recorded a pick.  The Cougar football team falls to 0-2 on the season and they will begin District play this Friday night at home against BCLUW.

The South Winneshiek Warrior football team had a tough time with Saint Ansgar at home on Friday night as they were beaten by the Saints 35-12.  Rodney Schwartzhoff had 148 yards rushing to lead the Warrior offense, Levi Lukes threw a touchdown pass to Cole Klimesh and the other touchdown for South Winn came on a three-yard run by Braxton Smith.  The Warriors fall to 0-2 on the season and they will look for that first win this Friday night when they begin District play at home against Denver.

The New Hampton Chickasaw volleyball team will open up Northeast Iowa Conference play tonight as they will travel to Charles City to take on the Comets.  After going 3-2 at their own tournament on Saturday, the Chickasaws come into this match with a record of 7-2 while Charles City is 3-5.  You can tune into this match right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pre-game at 7pm with first serve scheduled for 7:15.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky volleyball team will be in Top of Iowa Conference home action tonight against Central Springs.  The Huskies are 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play while the Panthers come in at 4-2 and 2-1.  First serve is scheduled for 7pm.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar volleyball team will be in North Iowa Cedar League action tonight at home against Jesup.  The Cougars went 4-1 at the New Hampton tournament on Saturday and come in with an overall record of 5-2 while Jesup is 6-1.  First serve for this match is scheduled for 7pm.

The New Hampton Chickasaw girls and boys cross country teams will compete in a race today in Waverly hosted by the Go-Hawks.  Nashua-Plainfield will also race in this meet which will start with the Middle School races at 4:30.
