Grand Jury Indicts Man on Federal Gun Charges

Fayette, Iowa – A Fayette man was arrested earlier this summer on gun, theft and meth charges. He was indicted by a grand jury on Aug. 22.

33-year-old Josh Sargent of Fayette has been indicted on federal gun charges. He is facing two counts of a felon with a possession of a firearm. An incident occurred in 2016 where he was charged with second degree theft. Sargent was not supposed to have a firearm while he was on probation. He was still facing his punishment when he was busted in June of this year.

Sargent was in possession of four guns: .45-caliber Ruger New Vaquero revolver, a 10mm Wilson combat pistol, a Winchester shotgun and a Browning shotgun.

He now has a trial date set for October of this year and he is currently being detained. Sargent has submitted a “not guilty” plea.
