Hy-Vee Lends a Helping Hand in Wake of Hurricane Harvey

Hy-Vee is doing their part to help the people of Texas as Hurricane Harvey has flooded and damaged many homes, businesses and families. The grocery store chain is partnering with Red Cross to raise money and assist.

From now until Sep. 30, people will have the option to donate money to this cause, and with each donation, Hy-Vee will match it. Ryan Parker, the Charles City Hy-Vee store director, says more how this benefit works.

The Red Cross has provided supporting volunteer efforts, opened shelters and have provided meals and other supplies. The organization expects another 4,000 to 5,000 people to be on the ground in Texas by the end of this week.

Iowa has more than 40 volunteers from the region to support down south, and the Des Moines area has sent six Emergency Response Vehicles down to assist.
