951 The Bull Sports Report (8/25)

The New Hampton Chickasaw volleyball team was in non-conference action last night at Mason City.  The Chickasaws were able to sweep past the Mohawks three games to none by score of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-13.  With the win, New Hampton volleyball improves to 2-0 on the season and they’ll return to action on Tuesday night with a home triangular meet against Turkey Valley and Kee High.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky volleyball team was in Rockford last night for a Top of Iowa Conference match.  The Huskies squeaked out all three games with score of 25-23, 26-24, and 27-25 to sweep the Warriors.  Nashua improves to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.  The Huskies will be in action on Tuesday when they host Northwood-Kensett.

Week one of the Iowa High School Football season finally kicks off tonight.  Here are the match-ups for our area teams.  The New Hampton Chickasaw football team will host Charles City tonight.  You can tune into this game right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pre-game at 6:45 and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.  The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team will be at Postville with kickoff at 7pm.  The Turkey Valley Trojan football team will open up their season tonight at Kee High.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.  The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar football team will be on the road tonight for their opener.  The Cougars will be at Aplington-Parkersburg for their game which will kick off at 7:30.  The South Winneshiek Warrior football team will take on Wapsie Valley tonight.  This game will be played at the Upper Iowa football field and they will kickoff at 7:30.
