New Hampton, Iowa – The New Hampton Pool was supposed to have big renovations done to it this fall but the process has been slowed do to some financial issues.
Rick Kramer, Director of the New Hampton Parks and Rec Department, says the project is coming in over budget.
Some of the original plans that cannot be cut in order to receive the CAT Grant are a splash pad, drop water slide, two floatables and a children’s slide.
Henkel Construction of Mason City and Mechanical Inc. from Illinois say that they are working on trimming costs. With the project slowing down, the project will be backed up a little bit.
Kramer also says that pool projects inflate, so if this got pushed back to 2018, costs could be 10% higher. The New Hampton Parks and Rec Department does have some money. However, they would like to save that money for emergencies.
