Mercy Medical Celebrates 100 Years

Mercy Medical Center NH

One century ago the United States was still involved in World War I, the very first Pulitzer Prizes were awarded, the third Rose Bowl was played…and the Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton opened.

The New Hampton landmark will be celebrating its 100th birthday this weekend with events taking place.

Friday there will be a dinner for people who work or have worked at the hospital around lunch time. This allows for people to see people who they have worked with while they were at Mercy.

Saturday there will be a ecumenical church service with a butterfly release afterwards to commemorate those who have been lost. There will also be live music at 7 pm, and it is encouraged to bring your own lawn chairs.

If it rains the events will be moved to the St. Joe’s Gym.

Jenny Monteith, with Mercy, says that there will be things to do on Sunday as well.

For this event, a book was published for purchase. The preordered books will be handed out on Saturday and Sunday.
