Groundbreaking for New, New Hampton School Building is Set

New Hampton, Iowa – The New Hampton Community School Board recently had a unanimous vote to accept a bidder who will begin pre-construction work on the new school building.

The bid went to Baker Concrete and Excavating of Waverly who won with a bid of $702,700.

Along with the base bid, the board asked for four alternates as well. Those being exterior sewer and a detention pond, water line relocation and fire hydrants, new site paving and over-excavation, and a new wrestling room.

The base bid and the first three alternates were approved, then the wrestling room. The wrestling room will cost about $15,300.

There is a pre-construction meeting next week and excavation and re-compacting plan to begin shortly after that. A groundbreaking ceremony is set for August 14th.
