Community celebrates the life of Logan Luft

Charles City, Iowa – A celebration of life for Logan Luft was held yesterday at the Charles City Middle School competition gym. Hundreds of people gathered in the gym to say their final goodbyes to the 15-year-old, who died following an ATV accident on July 4th in Charles City.

The message of the day was one of hope, as Logan was able to donate most of his organs. To date, family members said approximately  eight people have benefitted from his organ donation, including a seven year old girl who received his heart and dozens of others from tissue that was donated.

Tony Hakes of the Iowa Donor Network was at the Celebration of Life. He talked about the importance of organ donation.

Logan was remembered as an upstanding student, athlete and good friend to so many. Erik Hoefer was Logan’s cross country coach for two years.

School district counselors Sandy Thomson and Pat Rottinghaus said they will be available for the rest of the summer for students in the district who may need additional counseling resources following the tragedy.

The service included songs of praise and uplifting prayer, including a song sung by the Charles City Middle School choir.

Logan was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.
