In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw baseball team opened up their postseason tournament with Class 2A District 5 Semi-Final against Hampton-Dumont at home. The Chickasaws jumped ahead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added single runs in the third and fourth. They would put a four spot on the board in the sixth and cruised to an 8-0 win. The New Hampton pitching staff was dominant in the game as Carter Stochl threw the first six innings, didn’t allow a hit, and struck out 14 batters. Keegan Tenge threw the final inning without yielding a hit either to complete the combined no-hitter. Wyatt Stochl led the Chickasaw offense with three RBI and Tenge had a double and two runs batted in. The New Hampton baseball team improves to 31-2 this season and will play in the District Finals on Saturday night against South Winneshiek.
The South Winneshiek Warrior baseball team advanced to the Class 2A District 5 Final by way of an 8-2 win over Central Springs in New Hampton. The Warriors would get all of the offense they would need by scoring seven runs in the top of the third inning. Hunter Todd had a hit and drove in two runs for South Winn and Rodney Schwartzhoff had two hits and two runs scored. Joel Hanson was the winning pitcher as he went four and two thirds innings, gave up two runs on six hits, and struck out four batters while Austin Tieskotter threw the final two and a third innings. The Warrior baseball team is now 20-13 on the season and they’ll meet up with New Hampton on Saturday night.
The Nashua-Plainfield Husky baseball team had a tough draw in their postseason opener last night as they were at Kee High for a Class 1 District 5 Quarter-Final game. A five-run third inning for Kee High allowed them to coast to a 9-2 victory over Nashua. Mason Hyde had a home run for the Husky offense and Tanner Haut had an RBI double. The Nashua baseball team finishes their season with a record of 1-20.
The Turkey Valley Trojan baseball team was in New Albin last night as well as they played against Tripoli in a Class 1A District 5 Quarter-Final. The Trojans were able to secure a 4-1 victory to improve to 10-18 overall this season. They advance to the District Semi-Finals tomorrow night where they will play at Kee High.
