Charles City, Iowa – There was an ATV accident that happened on Tuesday night that sent a soon to be 9th grader at Charles City to the hospital.

Logan Luft was the person in the accident and it was announced by his parents on Wednesday that he was clinically brain dead. Luft is currently being kept on life support so his organs can be donated.

There has been no word on what caused the ATV crash.

Students had the opportunity to meet with school counselors, Mrs. Thomson, Mrs. Hagensick, and Mrs. Rottinghaus on Thursday.

Logan Luft’s parents are Wendy and Leonard Luft. An entry on Logan’s CaringBridge website read:

We appreciate all of your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Logan’s CT scan was repeated this morning and did not show the improvements we were hoping for. He is comfortable. We will know more in the next couple of days. We know God is holding Logan on his hands. Again, we truly appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received. We are asking for privacy and discretion in all conversations in the community. Also, we are still asking for only immediate family to visit. We love you all!
