The New Hampton Chickasaw softball team was in Charles City last night to resume their suspended game from last week. The game started in the top of the fourth inning with the Chickasaws trailing 7-2. Charles City would score five more runs which ended the game early at 12-2 in five innings. New Hampton softball is now 19-13 overall this season and they fall to 9-7 in the Northeast Iowa Conference. The Chickasaws will be back in Northeast Iowa Conference play tonight at home against Waukon.

The North Butler Bearcat softball team hosted Nashua-Plainfield last night in a Top of Iowa Conference game.  The Bearcats defeated Nashua 12-0 as the Husky softball team is now 0-16 overall and 0-13 in the conference.   Nashua will be at home tomorrow night against Garner for their next action.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team hosted Nashua-Plainfield last night in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The Bearcats built an 8-0 lead by scoring runs in five of the first six innings. Nashua would push across three runs in the seventh, but it was North Butler who won the game 8-3. Mason Hyde had two hits, a run scored, and two RBIs to lead the Huskies who fall to 0-15 overall and 0-14 in league play. Next up for Nashua will be a home game against Garner tomorrow night.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar baseball team hosted Hudson last night in a North Iowa Cedar League double-header. The Cougars dropped the first game 8-2 and lost the second game 10-7. After the sweep, Sumner-Fred baseball is now 1-22 overall. Their next game will be tomorrow night at South Winneshiek.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg softball team hosted Hudson last night as well in North Iowa Cedar League play.  The Cougars scored seven runs in the third and five runs in the fourth to help them cruise to a 12-2 win in five innings. Kesley Allen had three hits and three RBIs, Krayton Allen had a home run and four runs batted in, and Kelsey Pagel had two hits and drove in three. Sumner-Fred softball is now 12-14 overall this season and they improve to 8-7 in the NICL. They will play again tonight at home against Wapsie Valley.

The Turkey Valley Trojan softball team suffered a couple more losses last night as they were swept in an Upper Iowa Conference double-header by Kee High. The Trojans lost the first game 14-0 and dropped the second game 10-0. Turkey Valley softball is now 0-27 overall on the year and they’ll look to get into the win column tonight at Riceville.

The South Winneshiek Warrior baseball team picked up a couple of wins last night as they were able to sweep Postville in an Upper Iowa Conference double-header on the road. The Warriors won game one 11-1 and took game to 14-1. South Winn baseball is now 17-11 overall this season and they improve to 10-6 in the UIC. They will be in non-conference action at home against Waverly-Shell Rock tomorrow night.

The New Hampton Chickasaw baseball team will have a key Northeast Iowa Conference double-header tonight at Waverly that could clinch the regular season NEIC title. New Hampton comes in at 22-1 overall and 12-0 in the NEIC while the Go-Hawks are 16-4 and 9-1. Should New Hampton win both games, they would be up three games with just two games remaining and earn their third straight NEIC title.
