The Bull Sports Report (6/23)

The New Hampton Chickasaw softball team was in Charles City last night for a Northeast Iowa Conference double header.  The Chickasaws dropped the first game 8-4 and were trailing in game two 7-2 in the top of the fourth inning when play was suspended due to the weather.  No make-up date has been announced.  The one loss last night puts New Hampton softball at 18-9 overall and 9-6 in the NEIC.  The Chickasaws will be back in action tonight as they will take part in a two-day tournament hosted by Linn-Mar.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar softball team was in Jesup last night for a North Iowa Cedar League game.  The Cougars were in a back-and-forth game until Jesup was able to put the game away late and won it 7-3.  Jadlin Seehase had four hits and an RBI for Sumner-Fred and Krayton Allen had three hits and an RBI. The Cougar softball team is now 9-14 overall this season and they fall to 5-7 in the NICL.  They will host Grundy Center tonight.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky baseball team hosted Osage last night in a Top of Iowa Conference match-up.  Osage pounded out 15 hits and won the game 14-0 in five innings.  Mason Hyde had a pair of hits for Nashua.  The Huskies fall to 0-14 overall this season and are 0-13 in conference play.  Next up for Nashua will be a road game at North Butler Monday.

Mother Nature played a role in the cancelling or postponing of numerous games around the area.  The Nashua-Plainfield vs. Osage softball game was postponed and will now be made up on July 1st.  Nashua is not scheduled to have another game until June 28th.

The South Winneshiek softball team had their double-header at MFL-Mar-Mac last night postponed.  No make-up date has been scheduled yet.  The Warrior softball team will next be in action tomorrow as they will play in a tournament at Dunkerton.

The Turkey Valley Trojan baseball team had their double header for last night with Kee High postponed and they will make-up those games tonight.  The Trojan baseball team is 7-11 overall this season and Kee High comes in at 14-4.  First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 5:30.

Other games on the schedule tonight include the New Hampton Chickasaw baseball who will travel to Crestwood tonight for a Northeast Iowa Conference game.  The Chickasaw baseball team comes in ranked number one in Class 2A and they are 21-1 overall and 10-0 in the NEIC.  Crestwood is 7-12 and 3-9.  You can tune into this game right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pre-game at about 7:15 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:30.

And the Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar baseball team will play Wapsie Valley tonight in North Iowa Cedar League action.
