The Bull Sports Report (6/8)

New Hampton welcomed the Charles City softball team to town on Wednesday night for a conference showdown. Savannah Anderson would be the starting pitcher for the Chickasaws and she did a good job of holding down a hot hitting Comet team. Anderson would go the full seven innings pitched and only give up two earned runs. There were a couple of defensive miscues for New Hampton and those extra outs eventually caught up to them as they would lose, three to one. Lauren Frerichs drove in the only run of the game for the Chickasaws. With that loss, New Hampton falls back to .500. The team will travel to Waukon on Thursday night for their next game.

The Chickasaws baseball team hit the ground running to start the season and they have not let up yet. Last night was no different as they traveled to Denver for a matchup on the diamond. New Hampton jumped out of the gates in this game with two runs in the first inning. The Chickasaws would hold a two run lead through four innings played. In the top of the fifth, New Hampton would capitalize for three runs. They would add one more run in the seventh and the final score would be eight to four, a New Hampton win. The Chickasaws still only have one blemish on their record and have two big game coming up next in Waverly-Shell Rock and Charles City.

After starting the year with six straight losses, the Turkey Valley baseball team has now won three of four games. Wednesday night, the Trojans traveled to Waukon for a game. Turkey Valley poured the runs on in this game early as they connected for 13 hits and four walks. The Trojans took the lead and never looked back as they won this game, 15 to three. Simon Schmitt, Wyatt Blazek, and Jaden Bruess each had two RBIs in the game. Turkey Valley has a doubleheader against Postville tonight.
