Charley Western Trail Bridge becoming more unstable

Danger signs posted on the banks of the Cedar River upstream from unstable bridge

Charles City, Iowa – The Charley Western Bridge in Charles City has shifted even more recently and has become a more dangerous situation, according to City Administrator Steve Diers.

Diers is reminding people to stay away from the bridge both on the trail and below on the river and additional fencing has gone up to keep people clear of the area.

Additional steps have been taken by the city in the event of a total collapse of the bridge.

On another city matter, Diers reminded residents of Charles City about citywide clean-up, which begins on April 24th.
